Arts Network

Every dollar donated to Urban Community Arts Network supports our programs and research, including the Greater Madison Music City Project.

Madison’s music scene is full of talent, but too many musicians and vendors of color struggle to access paid opportunities and visible platforms. Mad Lit is a leading example of programming that creates a space where underrepresented artists can thrive—bringing diverse music, vendors, and visual artists to the forefront of our city’s culture.

By donating today, you’re not just supporting a single event—you’re strengthening the foundation of a more inclusive arts and culture experience in Madison.
Reimagining our previous initiatives, the future of Urban Community Arts Network programming will be designed to inspire, guide and highlight Madison’s music centric creatives. Focusing on building a sustainable funding structure for our organization, we aim to develop a pipeline for youth artists to grow into our local music scene.

Every contribution makes a difference. Thank you for helping us create meaningful opportunities for local musicians, vendors, visual artists and youth!

Education

Your donation helps create artist residencies in schools and community centers to incorporate Hip-Hop in education, as well as promoting professional growth through free or low-cost workshops and panel discussions featuring music industry professions.

Research & Advocacy

Through initiatives like The Voices of Madison Hip-Hop—a 2019 report compiling insights from conversations with members of the local Hip-Hop community—and the Greater Madison Music City Music Recovery Framework, an in-depth exploration of Madison’s music ecosystem, UCAN has consistently worked to empower and uplift Madison’s music community.

Created to continue the work of the Task Force on Equity in Music and Entertainment (TFEME), Greater Madison Music City (GMMC) aims to align artists, promoters, venues, educators, music production companies, and audiences, in order to strategize for equity among all members of our music ecosystem in the Greater Madison Area.

Your donation helps shape Madison’s future as an equitable and robust music city.
